Have fun and be inspired as you learn the basics of gardening. Our one-day workshops are designed for beginner gardeners, to improve your knowledge and gardening skills and gain the confidence to nurture and enjoy your garden.
Many of you will have discovered the joys of the garden during the lockdown. Build on that enthusiasm by learning how to grow good plants, for both the ornamental garden and vegetables for the allotment.
Learn about the basics of soil management, composting, making your garden more sustainable; discover the different groups of plants; and how to make more plants for free; plus an introduction to pruning, pest/disease and weed control, and basic seasonal tasks.
You will also have information about the best tools to use, best local nurseries, good online sources for plants, materials and what gardens to visit for inspiration.
As well as horticultural theory we will spend time in the garden seeing evidence of good horticultural practice,
Cost: £120 – to include refreshments and a vegetarian lunch.
Dates: See below – each one-day workshop runs 10am to 4.30pm.
