Garden and Home Mosaic Projects
Posted:17 April 2016
Have you been saving broken china bits and pieces ready for the day that you’ll start that mosaic masterpiece? Why not bring them along to the Garden House and be inspired by local mosaic artist Sue Samways.
A mosaic will beautify any surface. The possibilities are truly endless – and dont worry about making your mosaic perfect, imperfections disappear and individuality adds to the character and uniqueness of your piece!
One student on our March course covered the top of a small side table (the old dark wood type easily bought at local markets or car boot sales), another transformed a mirror frame, while other students made beautiful decorative stepping-stones for the garden. Everyone had a great time and produced the most exciting pieces.
Join our next 3-session course Make a Mosaic for House or Garden on Mon, Tues and Weds afternoons 11, 12 and 13 July 2016 – 1.30pm to 4.30pm. The cost will be £110 to include tea and cake!
Everyone starts with a 6” decorative tile, then progresses on to create a small plant pot, an indoor mirror frame or a small outdoor stepping stone.
Sue will demonstrate both direct and indirect methods. You may have already started a project that you want to complete and you are welcome to bring that along to finish. You will learn all about design, planning, cutting to shape, and the use of adhesives and grouting.
The Garden House signature mosaic, created by Sue Samways!
Bring along any particular tiles, broken china, plates or pottery you’d like to incorporate into your piece – all materials necessary will be provided but only a limited amount of china, so please bring what you can.
…and be inspired by the work shown here!
