Knowing how much we all love to visit and be inspired by other people’s gardens, we have been busy arranging some exciting private garden visits – a real treat for a summer’s day out!
Join us at West Dean Gardens (near Chichester, West Sussex), an extraordinary horticultural attraction with an Edwardian pergola, Victorian glasshouses, walled orchards and kitchen garden, and so much more to enjoy. Nestled at the foot of the South Downs, this is one of the greatest restored gardens open to the public today.
We will enjoy a talk with inspirational Head Gardener, Tom Brown. Tom took charge of these amazing gardens just before lock-down – a challenging time, for sure. He will tell us about the process of developing new flower borders (interesting for our more domestic settings), how they are tackling drier garden conditions, and much more.
After a picnic lunch there will be plenty of time to explore the whole garden, and maybe even walk up to the St Roche’s Arboretum – a 2.5 mile circuit walk encompassing a fine collection of specimen trees and shrubs and breathtaking views of the Sussex Downs.
Date: Wednesday 27 July 2022
Cost: £40 per person – includes a delicious picnic lunch and refreshments.
