Garden House Visit to Knepp Walled Gardens

Wednesday 2nd April | 10:00am - 12:00am

Can your gardening mindset be changed?

Be energised by new and exciting techniques to use in your own garden by joining us for a morning tour of the walled and kitchen gardens at Knepp Castle and Estate in East Sussex.

The Knepp gardeners have taken what they have learnt from the wider rewilding project to think about how a garden can function as a dynamic ecosystem. Nine hundred species of plants with global warming and sustainability in mind, with their ability to thrive with minimum water and fertility, have been chosen for the gardens.

This experiment at Knepp’s walled garden is changing the conventional gardening mindset, and to this end landscape designer Tom Stuart-Smith, James Hitchmough (Professor of Horticultural Ecology at the University of Sheffield), Mick Crawley (Emeritus Professor of Plant Ecology at Imperial College London) and organic gardening expert Jekka McVicar, have all been part of the garden’s creation.

We will also visit the Kitchen Garden where the focus is on edible and useful plants, and a spectrum of soil-productivity for sustainable fruit, salads and vegetables.

It is all absolutely fascinating.  We loved it so much after our visit last autumn that we are returning.
