Learn how to weave a tall willow obelisk for your sweet peas or other climbers, using natural English willow and traditional weaves. Sussex basketmaker Christiane Gunzi will also demonstrate how to make a low willow frame to support peonies or other garden plants.
All tools and materials will be provided. Please note that some manual dexterity is required when working with natural willow.
Christiane works with willow, rush, birch and other natural materials, some of which she grows herself. Based in Hastings, she has been making traditional and contemporary basketry since 2008, and trained in Basketry at the City Lit in London. As well as making, Christiane runs basket-weaving classes for beginners and improvers, and loves passing on her passion for this ancient craft.
