Spend a winter’s day in the cosy Garden House with artist Jane Horne. Paper collage is a creative, sustainable and hands-on craft. Using the garden, images of the local landscape and your imagination as inspiration, create textured and colourful images.
With Jane as your guide you will begin by creating colours and patterns on paper using rubbings, spattering and mark making. There will be a choice of papers, different textures, and various mediums to explore. Then you will create a collage either cutting, tearing or both – there are no rules to collage, it can be as precise or random as you choose!
All materials will be provided but feel free to bring any wrappings or cuttings you may choose.
Jane becomes absorbed in the subject and the process, enjoying the contrast between the studied delicacy of her flower painting, the considered method of her landscape weaving and the relative spontaneity of collage. Jane was awarded 2022 Surrey Artist of the Year.
